Canyons Hall Chancellor's Circle Innovation Grant Application

The College of the Canyons Foundation invites all colleagues to apply for a Chancellor's Circle Innovation Grant to be funded for projects implemented during the 2024-25 academic year. Please prepare your proposals to reflect how your $1,000 grant would be expended.

Innovation Grants are designed to support colleagues by providing financial assistance to help fund new innovative projects. The program is intended to augment existing funds, not replace them. Weight will be given to projects that specifically address opportunities to introduce innovative instructional delivery methods reinforcing student learning outcomes.


Chancellor's Circle Funding

Funds for this program are raised through College of the Canyons Foundation Chancellor’s Circle membership. The Chancellor’s Circle is a philanthropic business support group of the College of the Canyons Foundation. What will I need to complete this application?

Here's a basic list of items required to complete the Chancellor's Circle Innovation Grant Application:
  • Description of project
  • Objectives/Student Learning Outcomes
  • Budget
  • Need for project
  • Steps to implement the project
  • Timetable for project implementation
  • OPTIONAL: Supporting documentation or attachments may be emailed to: cocfoundation@canyons.edu.
PLEASE NOTE:
  • Proposals will not be accepted without written acknowledgement by the Division Dean/Senior Administrator and prior to the July 10, 2024 deadline. Please have them email written acknowledgment to: cocfoundation@canyons.edu.
  • If your proposal involves software or other technology needs, please provide written acknowledgment from Jim Temple, Vice President of Technology before the July 10, 2024 deadline.

Key requirements for proposals:

  • The project supports the college’s strategic goals
  • The project provides outcomes that enhance student success
  • The project is innovative

Tips for submitting a successful application:

  • Proposals should be: brief (approximately 300 words), concise, and provide adequate information on student success outcomes, project timeline, and budget
  • Please be sure your application explains how your project meets the key requirements
  • Travel expenses and salaries will NOT be funded through this program
  • Your proposal should be designed to help students/colleagues create or implement a new or innovative idea at COC
  • Funding for your proposal should augment existing funds (not replace existing institutional funding)
  • Your proposal should specifically address opportunities to introduce innovative instructional delivery methods that reinforce student learning outcomes

Important information for approved proposals:

  • At the conclusion of the 2024-25 academic year, recipients will be requested to summarize their project and report on student outcomes
  • Innovation Grant winners will be announced at the 2024 Opening Day
  • All funds received from Innovation Grants must be expended by June 30, 2025

Deadline Reminder:

Proposals must be submitted online with written email acknowledgment by the Division Dean/Senior Administrator no later than July 10, 2024.
Please begin by stating the title of your proposal.
Written approval from Division Dean must be provided prior to application deadline.
This is how your project will be referenced if awarded. Please be brief.

Financial & Implementation Steps of Project

Please provide a basic, yet detailed budget for your proposal including all revenue and expenses anticipated for the
proposal. An example is outlined below:
XYZ Proposal, Sample Budget:
  1. Revenue
    • COC Foundation Mini-Grant: $1,000
    • "Other" revenue: $500
    • Total Revenue: $1,500
  2. Expenses (example)
    • Reference text (1/student): $60 x 6 = $360
    • Project journal (1/student): $40 x 6 = $240
    • Project supply "Item A" (1/student): $30 x 6 = $180
    • Project supply "Item B" (1/student): $50 x 6 = $300
    • Food expense for "XYZ" outreach meeting: $250
    • Estimated sales tax & shipping cost: $170
    • Total Expense: $1,500
